After 11 days of rigorous training, tests and lots of fun All India Vayu Sainik Camp-2007, over 600 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from 15 directorates bid adieu to the camp on Thursday with a motivation of serving the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The Maharashtra Directorate was once again ranked first for their overall performance, while Delhi stood second and Rajasthan bagged the third position.
They were also adjudged the best in Flying and Aeromodelling Flying, while at the firing events the trophy went to Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate. The Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Directorate received the trophy for Line Area, 3 Tamil Nadu Air Squadron and Guajrat received trophies for the Best Technical Air Squadron and Drill.
Best Pilot
Cadet Pavan Kumar M of 1 Karnataka Air Kar & Goa won the Best Pilot (Boys) award, while Cadet Vishal Diggewadi and Cadet Amith M Suthar of 8 Kar Air Kar bagged the first prizes in Static display
Commenting on the 11 day camp, Air Commodore P Rajesh Rao, deputy director general, Karnataka and Goa Directorate said, “ I see our country very safe in these young hands, the new generation of cadets is well-informed and tech-savvy.
They were amazing not only on the front of aviation but also during cultural programmes, he said. The cadets who participated in the camp expressed hope that the knowledge acquired during the camp would help them achieve their dreams of joining the armed forces.
Living in tents, participating in the training and cultural programmes brought in a sense of comradeship, said cadets. Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who declared the camp closed, congratulated all the teams and said he was pleased to see around 180 girl cadets participating in the camp.
