Well, it’s raining biriyanis with 26 varieties of it. Because Nizam’s cuisine has come to the City. Pinxx of the Royal Orchid Central offers the food lovers of Bangalore ‘The Jewels of Nizam’. You can start with drinks like ‘Kamruddin’ which is the juice of apricots, jaljeera and masala ‘chaach’. There is lot more on the plate like the horbas. Look for the Mirchi-ka-Salaan or the succulent Baigan-ka-Salaan which is part of the buffet. There is a rich variety of exotic combinations for the non-vegetarians, especially fish. The salads are good. You can try out ‘Subz murabba’, ‘Murgh angare’ chaat.
With the main course, comes the non-vegetarian ‘Haleem’ apart from other items like ‘Murg musallam’ and ‘Hare mirch ki gosht’. For the vegetarians, ‘Shahi paneer’ is quite interesting. Bite into the rich desserts wrapped in dry fruit and cream and discover the art of celebrating a meal. There is the ‘Shaha tukda’, ‘Sheer kurma’, ‘Gil -e-firdous’, kheer made of pumpkin and more.
The ambience is the Dardar style, with stewards dressed in Pathani suit in tune with the food. But what makes it even more enjoyable is the ghazals played by Amajat. Talk about the Mughals Court and you might just find yourself right inside one. For those who are not aware of what Nizami cuisine is, it is a
princely one, a blend of Mughlai and Persian cuisines. The festival is open till Oct 28, between 7 pm and 11 pm at Pinxx, Manipal Centre. A meal for one at the Pinxx comes to Rs 460 plus tax.
