He would visit shops as a self-styled purchasing officer of the Central govt. He would place orders for home appliances. After collecting the materials, he would give cheques and say good bye.
When the shop owners sent the cheques for collections, they would bounce. The materials for which he placed orders included LCDs, television sets, all valued at Rs 4.5 lakh. However, he ran out of luck and landed in Central police net. The accused has been identified as K Murali (42), a resident of Halasuru. He opened an account with Corporation bank by depositing Rs 5,000 for giving cheques to the shop owners. He approached Vijayalakshmi Marketing, on RV Road, V V Puram on September 25 and placed an order for the purchase of 15 wet grinder machines. He came the next day, collected the machines handed over a cheque for Rs 50,525 and departed.
When the shop owner sent the cheque it bounced and he lodged a complaint with the Central police. On suspicion, the police secured him from Halasuru and drilled him and Murali disclosed all.
