An inter-religious prayer meeting marked the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation at Rajghat, the samadhi of Gandhi, where leaders, children, youth and women paid their respects.

UPA's Gandhi Jayanti gift to rural landless
The Centre on Tuesday launched a scheme for providing death and disability insurance cover for rural landless households, a programme for which Rs 1,000 crore was earmarked in this year's budget.

A grand play is being staged on the life of freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh at the historic Ferozshah Kotla to mark his 100th birth anniversary.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, raising left arm, fifth left, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, in khaki suit, facing camera, are welcomed by North Koreans at welcoming ceremony in Pyongyang, North Korea, on Tuesday. Kim greeted Roh in Pyongyang on Tuesday to begin the second summit between the two countries since the peninsula's division after World War II.
