Nehru Owns TTK’s Mistake
New Delhi, Oct 21.
Prime Minister Nehru declared at a press conference here today, “We stick to our present foreign policy even if the heavens fall.”
Nehru made this statement when asked whether his attention had been drawn to a reported remark by Union Finance Minister Krishnamachari, in the US that India had chosen a policy of non-alignment not out of choice but of economic necessity.
Surmounting The Food Deficit

Large areas of land will be brought under cultivation during the Second Plan period, irrigation schemes, major and minor, pressed into operation and all avoidable expenditure cut out, were the assurances held out by Government to the Mysore State Development Council. The council decided to constitute a sub-committee to look at the development of Malnad.

Arson And Looting In Bellur
Bangalore, Oct 21.
The police burst several rounds of tear-gas shells in three different places to disperse clashing groups which indulged in arson and looting at Bellur in Nagamangala taluk in Mandya district in the early hours of today.
Four haystacks, five shops and a four-wheeler were set on fire. Three houses were ransacked and looted, reports received here said.
