Aloha, affiliated to Abacus Association of China and Malaysia, is organising a state-level Abacus mental arithmetic competition at Ambedkar Bhavan on October 27.
The competition will be in four different age groups and is aimed at testing the computing ability of the students. They have to do 50 complex sums in five minutes.
Over 2000 students are expected to take part. Aloha has organised the event with the objective of popularising alternative learning systems in mathematics through the Chinese concept of Abacus.
Aloha has its own Abacus training centres across Karnataka and has introduced this innovative program for children o improve their concentration, memory, reflexes, calculating and analytical skills. It aims at “whole development of the brain.”
