With a few Bajrang Dal activists wearing mala, the 7-day Dattamala Abhiyan got off to a start here on Saturday.
After homa and other rituals, Bajrang Dal State Convenor Mahendra Kumar and BJP MLA C T Ravi wore malas. Though there was a lot of hype about the controversial Abhiyan the response was poor. Sources attributed this to differences in the organisation.

The district administration is likely to announce its decision on permitting Sankirtana Yatra.
Some organisations have appealed to the Governor not to permit it.
