According to sources at various departments, more than 50,000 people could have left Mysore on a single day - Monday. Travellers, both national and international, are leaving Mysore in hoards with Dasara special buses and trains running full.

Some of the passengers, especially senior citizens, were put into hardship since they were overpowered by the young ones in occupying seats.

Banners of companies which doled out a few lakhs of rupees for Dasara festivities are still fluttering in the main streets and junctions of Mysore such as K R Circle, Statue Circle and strategic locations near the Palace etc. Heavy demand is witnessed in case of Bangalore bound buses and trains, including the Dasara special vehicles. Traffic has been choc-a-bloc since early morning on Mysore - Bangalore highway, especially near Srirangapatna. The resorts around the city are slowly gaining total occupancy with tourists halting for couple of days more before the schools reopen towards midweek. The Dasara jumbos too, have planned their return journey to HD Kote and Nagarahole, on Tuesday.

Efforts of the authorities in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene through the festivities has been laudable since the day the festivities began.

The City has looked relatively litter-free, sans the rotting flowers especially around the tourist spots such as Palace, Zoo, Karanji and Kukkarahalli lakes and other places.
With the Dasara concluding on Saturday, Mysore City Corporation Commissioner Manivannan said the task of cleaning up the city has been carried out all through the celebrations. “Banners will be down in a day or two. Town Hall, where temporary seating arrangements were made, will be cleared in a day’s time. Garbage, if any, will be cleared before end of Tuesday,” he said.
