Spice Teles new e-berry service

Spice Telecom, on Tuesday, launched its push mail service e-berry for regular GPRS enabled cell phone, not necessarily smartphone. With this customers can access both personal and official emails, as soon as it reaches the PC. ..



The service is similar to a SMS. A user can send, receive, read, move, delete mails and even view attachments. About 240 phones from all major manufacturers including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Windows Pocket PC etc support e-berry service.

Flexible tariff plans
Briefing reporters, Spice Karnataka Chief Operating Officer Rakesh Singh said “one can even connect the GPRS handset to a laptop to check mails and update contacts and calendar lists.” For security Spice provides 128 bit encryption of data and speed of 22 kbps. It can even keep contacts and calendars providing automatic back up.
The connection has flexible tariff plans. For pre-paid plan it has basic of Rs 249 a month for free usage of 10 MB. For post-paid it ranges from Rs 249 to Rs 899 per month giving free usage of 10 MB to 1.25 GB respectively. Additionally if a person does not have an email address, they can get a free account, with an address as 9844556677@spicemail.in for a one time charge of Rs 99.

The e-berry is available in two versions enterprise edition and internet edition. The internet edition is a mail solution for personal email accounts such as yahoomail, gmail, hotmail, indiatimes mail etc.

The enterprise edition is server-based solution for end customer organisations with multiple mobile subscriptions, using MS exchange/lotus notes mail. However, it is available for corporate subscribers with minimum of 5 activations.
