Hero Ultras e-scooters

Hero Ultra, a venture between Hero Exports and Ultra Motors, on Tuesday, announced its foray into South India with launch of their range of electric two wheelers here.

Hero Ultra has eight models in electric two wheeler segment, where the price range is between Rs 14,400 and Rs 27,900. The newly launched ‘Velociti’, electric scooter with higher speed of 40 km ph is priced at Rs 35,225 (ex-showroom Bangalore).  Velociti, comes with powerful motor of 500 watts and range of 50 km per charge.
Hero Ultra plans to increase its presence in the South by opening 40 outlets in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. “This quarter focus will be on expansion in South,” Ultra Motor India Managing Director Ganesh Mahalingam said.

It will open five showrooms each in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Currently, it has 57 outlets and plans to scale this up to 150 by March 2008.  Hero Ultra, will also be selling their electric bikes at Reliance Hypermarkets. Talks are also on with other major retailers for the same. Hero Ultra, would focus on two wheeler market and introduce high-powered models in this segment. Going ahead, it also plans to venture into hybrid three-wheeler segment which would be operated on battery with CNG or diesel.
