Satyam Q2 profit up at Rs 409 cr
Satyam Computer Services earned Rs 409 crore net profit during the second quarter ended September 30, registering a 28 per cent rise compared to last year. The total revenues of the company during the period stood at Rs 2,031.7 crore, accounting for an y-o-y increase of 26.80 per cent and a sequential rise of 11 per cent, a company release said in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The company said its revenue in the current fiscal was expected to cross Rs 8,100 crores.
NF Railway’s new GM
Mr Shiv Kumar has recently been appointed as the General Manager (Construction) of Northeast Frontier Railway. A civil engineering graduate from Delhi College of Engineering, he joined Indian Railway Services of Engineers (IRSE) in November, 1972.
Award for M&M farm equipment
Mahindra & Mahindra announced in Mumbai on Tuesday that its Farm Equipment Sector (FES), the tractor company, was awarded the Japan Quality Medal on October 16, 2007, by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE), Tokyo. Mahindra is the only tractor manufacturing company in the world to win this award for excellence in Total Quality Management.
Cookson’s new research centre
Cookson Electronics on Tuesday, announced the relocation and opening of its new research centre in Bangalore. Cookson Electronics President & CEO Steven J Corbett said that the 32,000 sq ft facility is set up with an investment of $10 million. Mr Corbett said he expects the company to grow over 25 per cent in future.
Britannia’s net up 128 per cent
Britannia Industries on Tuesday announced that for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 the company has posted a net profit of Rs 48.50 crore, up 128 per cent from Rs 21.20 crore for the corresponding period last year. The total income of the company increased from Rs 552 crore to Rs 664.60 crore for the quarter under review.
Siemens bags Rs 330 cr order
Siemens together with Siemens AG, Germany has bagged a Rs 330 crore order from Tata Steel for providing the power distribution network solutions for their Greenfield Steel plant in Orissa. The company also announced in Mumbai on Tuesday that the scope of work for Siemens will include the supply of latest high voltage and medium voltage gas insulated switchgears, MV switchboards, control and automation systems and energy management systems.
BEML’s Malaysia operation begins
BEML on Tuesday announced that it has started operations in Malaysia to tap the growing demand for mining and construction equipment and spares. The company has opened a global warehouse for sourcing and supplying of mining and construction equipment and spares to over 43 countries. BEML (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd will act as a regional global distribution centre for stocking, selling of spares and servicing its equipment in the South Asian region and Australia.
Ashok Leyland’s net at Rs 80 cr
Ashok Leyland on Tuesday posted a net profit of Rs 80.33 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 95.36 in the year ago period. The total income increased from Rs 1709.38 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 to Rs 1757.03 crore in the quarter under review, the company said in Chennai.
Subex posts net loss of Rs 35 cr
Subex Azure on Tuesday in Bangalore reported a revenue of Rs 102.98 crore and net loss of Rs 34.82 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007. The revenue from products for this period stood at Rs 71.59 crore contributing 69.52 per cent to the total revenue. Revenue from services for this period stood at Rs 31.39 crore, contributing 30.48 pc. Revenue for the corresponding quarter last year was Rs 102.97 crore and PAT stood at Rs 16.37 crore.
