The accused have been identified as Mari alias Parthiban and Alex alias Alexander.

According to police, the duo and their associates, Raja and Stanley, had hacked to death a rowdy-sheeter Chinna alias Mugesh, a resident of Austin Town, with lethal weapons on the night of October 10.

Two gangs of rowdies, one headed by Umashankar and the other by Palani in Viveknagar, often engage in settling scores with each other. Members of Umashankar gang had eliminated Rahim, brother of Mubaraq (member of Palani gang) in Frazer town five years back. Chinna was also allegedly involved in the murder.
After these developments, Mubaraq, who is at present in prison, decided to eliminate Chinna and instigated the four accused.
