Dilip Raus visit: Residents, officials exchange words
Bangalore, dhns:

Absence of basic civic amenities certainly outrages denizens. Arguments between agitated residents and BBMP officials brought out this fact openly on Tuesday.

As BBMP Administrator Dilip Rau accompanied by other officials inspected Sanjaynagar, Raj Mahal Vilas II Stage, 3rd Block and C I L Layout areas some BBMP officials engaged themselves in heated arguments with residents - a majority of whom were senior citizens. However, Mr Rau didn’t lose his cool and gave a patient hearing to residents grievances and assured them of help from the Palike.

Raj Mahal Vilas

“Some roads in our area need to be tarred. There is no drain in front of Children’s park on 3 A cross Road. During rainy season the park gets flooded,” complained S G Shirgurkar a resident. Large number of residents showed their concern towards improving R M V park on 3 A cross. Mr Rau instructed Health department officials to take necessary measures to clear filth accumulated on vacant C A sites in II main road which have turned into virtual public toilets. He also instructed the engineers to carry out road works where ever necessary.

CIL Layout
Residents of CIL Layout urged the Administrator to restore Jyothivana Children’s Park which has been around since thirty years and is now being turned into a public library. Apart from this residents also urged Mr Rau to have talks with ISRO in order to provide shoulder drains to the main drain which runs across the premises of Antariksh Bhavan. He assured them of looking into these matters.

Sanjaynagar
“Footpath encroachments reign supreme in Sanjaynagar. Potholed internal roads and main roads along with improper drainage system are main problems here. There is also a delay in carrying any developmental work,” pointed out Venkatram, a resident. “In Sanjaynagar Main Road, steps would be taken to speed up work and to improve the quality of works being carried out,” said Mr Rau.  He also issued spot instructions to Health department officials to look into the garbage clearing issues. As far as encroachments of footpaths in the area are concerned he said that since violations are rampant the Palike will not be able to demolish all structures.
