‘Aid Must Come Within 6 Months’
Bonn, Oct. 23.
Mr T T Krishnamachari, Indian Finance Minister, visiting West Germany, said here today that the next six months would be critical for India’s Five-Year Plan. If no financial aid from abroad was forthcoming in that period, the Plan would have to be revised.
Answering questions at a press conference here at the close of his six-day visit, Mr Krishnamachari said, the immediate financial aid would not have to cover the whole 1,400 million dollar gap in the Plan, but some measure of assistance was “urgently needed.”
Russia Supports Syrian Demands

The United Nations General Assembly, after four hours of heated debate last night on the tense Syrian-Turkish crisis, adjourned for three days to continue further discussion on Friday.Russia backed Syrian demands for immediate withdrawal of Turkish troops from the frontier and appointments of a fact-finding commission.

Indian Warning Against Arms
United Nations, Oct. 23.
India has warned against the developed nations’ dangerous tendency to push sophisticated weapons into Third world to save jobs at home.
“This is an extremely dangerous trend which must be reversed.” Indian delegate Charanjit Chanana told the United Nations General Assembly today.
Voicing distress at the increasing militarisation of industrialised economies, he said it was closely linked with their desire to extend political influence and dominance.
