The BT finishing school, which will be on the lines of the IT finishing school, will be set up in Bangalore by the end of November or December this year, according to Mr M N Vidyashankar, Secretary, IT & BT. The BT finishing school will offer one year courses to students who have completed their basic degree in the subject.
Delivering the presidential address at the inauguration of the National Symposium on ‘ Innovations in Biotechnology: Entrepreneurial Opportunities and IPR’ on Tuesday, he said, “Students will be selected for the proposed BT finishing school through entrance exam and jobs will be guaranteed to those who pass out of this school. We are already in touch with the industry partners and about a dozen of them have shown interest, “ he said.
Among other initiatives, Mr Vidyashankar also announced that a stem cell research institute and an incubation centre would be set up in the city which would be the first of its kind in the country.

“ The stem cell research institute will be set up in the University of Agricultural Sciences campus in about three or four months. The incubation centre will come up in another 18 months at the BT Park in Electronic City,” he said.
He added that there was a proposal to set up a Nano Park in the city with an initial investment of Rs 100 crore by the Central and State Governments which will be monitored by the Nano Vision Group headed by Prof C N R Rao.
The first Bangalore Nano on the lines of the country’s premier Bangalore IT.in and BangaloreBio will be held on December 6 and 7.
