Public cooperation necessary to succeed

The Gadinada Utsava to be held in Madhugiri on November 14 and 15 will be organised in a grand fashion, and public co-operation is necessary for the utsava, assistant commissioner Anbukumar said.

He was presiding over the Gadinada Utsava preparatory meeting held at the assistant commissioner’s office here. Local leaders and public should offer their co-operation for all utsava programmes to be held in Madhugiri, Shira and Pavagada taluks to ensure that it is a grand success, he said. He also said that the Kannada and Culture Department had already released funds of Rs 3 lakh for this festival, ensuring that there would be no financial problems in organising it.

It has been decided to invite well-known litterateurs Doddarangegowda, Pavagada Prakash Rao and Baragur Ramachandrappa will be invited to speak at the programme.

Efforts on
Several sub-committees have also been formed to ensure the success of the programme. These sub-committees will prepare a proposed budget for the programme and submit it to the assistant commissioner.
In the historic ‘addoori’ procession to be held on November 14, several folk arts like kolata, nadidhwaja, veeragase, hulivesha, dollukunita, pandaribhajane, garudigombe, somana kunita, togalubhonge, keelukudure and other exhibits will be showcased.

After the procession, the inaugural programme will be held at the Mariyappa auditorium.
Teams from all over the district as well as the state will take part in the cultural show.
On the 15th, there will be a poets’ meet, lectures, and a seminar on the problems faced by Gadinadu Kannadigas, assistant commissioner Anbukumar explained.

Taluk panchayat president Babanna, tahsildar V Prasanna, Shira taluk tahsildar Renukaprasad, Pavagada tahsildar Eshwarappa, taluk president C Krishnappa of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat,secretary Tipperangaiah, taluk panchayat executive officer Dr Sridharamurthy, executive engineer of the Public Works Department Ravishankar, block education officer Hanumantharaya, CDPO Mallaiah, APMC secretary Nagaraj, former APMC president M G Sinivasamurthy, honorary president of the Taluk Journalists’ Association P S Gururaj, working president Bandichowdaiah were also present.
