KSP, MLI enter semifinals
KSP and MLI completed the semifinal line-up in the DS Murthy & V Karunakaran memorial hockey tournament at the KSHA stadium on Wednesday.

Both teams drew their respective final Phase III matches, but that was enough to catapult the duo to the last-four stage.

In Friday’s semifinals, KSP will lock horns with ASC and MLI face PCTC.

In the day’s first match, KSP drew 1-1 with Central Excise. Ajay Aiyappa got the cops off to a perfect start with a goal in the fourth minute, but Excise restored parity 20 minutes later through Umesh Mudkar.
Later in the evening, MLI and Canara Bank also played out a 1-1 stalemate. MLI went ahead in the 16th minute through Rathul Kerketa before Kaveriappa returned the compliment in the 34th.

JIRS boys clinch     under-16 title
Hosts Jain International Residential School won the boys’ under-16 title in the CBSE Cluster VII table tennis tournament. In Wednesday’s title clash, the JIRS boys outclassed MRPL, Mangalore by three matches to one.
Results (all finals):
Boys: U-14: Amrit Vidyalayam, Mysore bt Chirec Public School, Hyderabad 3-2.
U-16: Jain International Residential School bt MRPL, Mangalore 3-1.
U-19: St John's Higher Secondary School, Gannavaram bt OAKRIDGE International School, Hyderabad 3-2.
Girls: U-14: MRPL, Mangalore bt JIRS 3-0.
U-16: The Oxford Senior Secondary School, Bangalore bt Navy Children’s School, Visakhapatnam 3-1.
U-19: Mysore West Lions Sevaniketan, Mysore bt National Hill View Public School, Bangalore 3-0.
Most promising player:
Boys: U-14: Amog Athani (KLE Society's English Medium School, Nipani). U-16: Jahan Y Wadia (DAV Public School, Gulbarga).
U-19: GS Ashwani (National Hill View Public School, Bangalore).
Girls: U-14: Amrita Santosh (Navy Children’s School, Visakhapatnam). U-16: Riti Shah (JIRS). U-19: Ahalya S (Sri Kumaran Children's Home, Bangalore).
ISRO score over Youngsters
Santosh scored a hat-trick as Indian Space Research Organisation beat Bangalore Youngsters 3-1 in the ‘C’ Division football league at the ITI grounds on Wednesday.
Santosh scored in the ninth, 34th and 49th minute of play while Ravi (45th) netted the consolation goal for Youngsters’.

Inter-school  badminton meet
The Canara Union Charitable Trust will conduct the fourth Ramesh Padukone memorial inter-school badminton tournament from November 11 to 14 at the Prakash courts in Malleswaram. Entries close with organisers on November 5. For details, call: 23317980.

Twenty20 cricket tourney for BPOs
SportzVillage will organise an inter-BPO Twenty20 BPO Cup cricket tournament from November 16 to December 16 at the HMT Sports Club, Jalahalli, Bangalore. Entries may be sent on or before November 12.

U-19 girls’ cricket selection trials
Selection trials to pick the Karnataka State Junior (under-19) girls cricket team will be held at the KSCA ‘B’ grounds on October 29 at 2.00 pm. Those desirous of attending the trials are to report at the Chinnaswamy stadium at 1.30 pm on the same day, according to a release from the Karnataka State Cricket Association. Girls born on or after September 1, 1988 are eligible to attend the trials.

Bangalore varsity kho-kho trials
Bangalore University will have a selection trial to pick the varsity kho-kho (men) team for the all-India inter-university kho-kho tournament beginning on October 29.

The trials will be held on October 25 at the Central College cricket ground at 2.00 pm. Eligible students may attend the trials along with their original SSLC and PUC marks cards.

Meanwhile, the venue of the Bangalore University inter-collegiate chess tournament, scheduled for November 5 at FGC, KGF, has been changed to HKES Veerendra Patil College in Sadashivanagar, according to a release from the university. Inter-school       basketball
Clarence High School will host the 23rd invitational inter-school basketball tournament for boys and girls from October 27 to 31. The event will see the participation of basketball teams from ICSE schools in Bangalore.

Athletic meet for school children
Star Track Athletic Club will conduct its fifth state-level inter-school athletic meet for school boys and girls in the 9-16 age group. The meet  will be held on December 1 at Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Competition will be held in 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 1500M, shotput, relay and long jump events in junior (9-13 years) and senior (13-16 years) categories. Shotput and 50M events will be held for physically challenged students as well.
