Pre-paid taxi meters
Airline passengers arriving at the Bangalore airport can now look forward to taxi services sans overcharging and cheating from drivers. A new pre-paid taxi meter service was inaugurated by Narendra Kaushal, AAI Director, at the car parking area at the airport on Thursday.
Residents cry for water
Residents of Gowthamapuram in Ulsoor on Thursday staged a protest in front of BWSSB office against poor water supply in their area. The residents, particularly those on 6th, 7th and 8th Cross have been facing water shortage for over a year. More than 200 houses have been affected. “Repeated requests to the BWSSB have gone in vain,” said S Thomas, a resident.
Fund misuse alleged
The Right to Information Study Centre, a City-based NGO, on Thursday levelled charges against former BBMP Additional Commissioner (Finance) P K Srihari of misappropriation of public funds to tune of Rs 3.39 crore.
The NGO alleged Srihari had clandestinely purchased software for upgradation of information infrastructure for the municipal administration under World Bank Funds in 2005.
