Speaking to media persons here on Thursday Guttedar charged that Aland MLA B R Patil and his followers were involved in these irregularities with connivance of officers. Guttedar said irregularities to the tune of Rs 7.71 crore had taken place under various schemes in Aland taluk. Money was misappropriated in NRGES and other schemes including works in the taluk under the assistance of Hyderabad Karnataka Development Board.
He pointed out that Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer had raised objections for making labour payment more than required. There were instances of a same person having a bank account under one gram panchayat and another account under another gram panchayat. He disclosed that a labourer who should have been paid Rs 7400 for 100 days work was instead paid only Rs 500 and the remaining Rs 6900 has been misappropriated by Patil’s followers.
Guttedar appealed to labourers not to give credence to middlemen and avail payment directly from the bank.
According to Guttedar the irregularities had taken place on a large scale in villages coming under Sarasamba, Hirolli and Savaleshwar gram panchayats. Though funds meant for 13 gokattas had been completely spent only seven gokattas were constructed.
For the construction of same gokattas proposals had been again submitted under different schemes, he alleged.
Guttedar, who suffered political humiliation at the hands of Patil in the recently held elections to the Aland Town Municipal Council, said he would soon submit a complaint to the Lokayukta and also to the governor about the large scale financial irregularities in those works.
