The Yatra was taken out from Hanuman Temple in Super Market and culminated at the Sardar Vallabbhai Patel Circle after passing through Chowk Police Station, Kapada Bazar, and Ambedkar Chowk.
The Samithi has alleged that the Congress led UPA government at the Centre was hell bent on destroying Ram Sethu in the garb of constructing a ship canal under the Sethu Samudram project.
It said the construction of Ram Sethu by Vanara Sena (army of monkeys) under the supervision of Ram was a historical fact and involved the faith of millions of Hindus.
Besides being a monument of Hindu belief the Sethu had guarded against tsunamis and other natural calamities and was providing livelihood to lakhs of fishermen.
The area around Ram Sethu had rich deposits of thorium. Hence the Sethu should be preserved and protected at any cost, it added.
The Samithi has demanded that Ram Sethu should not be damaged; declare the Sethu as an archeological and historical monument; and change the alignment of Sethu Samudram ship canal.
