District Human Rights and Citizens Freedom Association here on Wednesday demanded more powers to Lokayukta.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor and State chief secretary through the DC, the association said that corruption was increasing in all government offices, especially in offices at the district level where no work was done without a bribe. The menace of middlemen was increasing day by day. Though criminal cases were registered against corrupt officials and their suspension was recommended, the suspension orders were not implemented, the association pointed out. Citizens were dodged though information was sought under the Right to Information Act.
To address these problems the governor had to immediate give more powers to Lokayukta to check corruption, the commission urged.
