There was a time when books were worshiped in India, he said.
But in today’s computer age was their time to read, he asked. Books mould people into cultured persons. Nava Karnataka Publications provided selfless service to people, he lauded.
Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Somashekar Wali, who was the chief guest of the programme, said people should buy and read books for book culture to exist.
Itagi Bheemanagouda from Lohia Foundation said that books had the power to reform the person.
Parents and teachers had to instill reading habit in students he added.
Dastagirisaab Dinni presided and said that today reading was culture was decreasing and as a result human values were declining.
