The only concern for the exporters now a days is the appreciation of the value of rupee. Otherwise it is a fairly good climate for export in India, said Canara Bank Mangalore circle office Deputy General Manager M M Kudva.
Speaking after inaugurating the one-day seminar on “Export awareness” organised by the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) along with Bangalore based Visvesvaraya Industrial Trade Centre (VITC) and Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) and District Industries Centre (DIC) in Mangalore on Thursday, he said that political uncertainty is what is affecting reforms in India.
However, the government is very helpful to exporters in all ways, he said recalling the Gold Card Scheme that gives concession in interest to exporters. The speedy disposal of trade related cases also helps, he added and appreciated the role of banks in facilitating export in the country.
VITC Managing Director H V Raghuram stressed on the importance of improving the quality of exporting products. The government of Karnataka is taking a lot of steps to improve export and export awareness programmes are one of them, he said and added that VITC also organises export management training programmes and other programmes in association with various export promotion councils.
DIC Joint Director S G Hegde also spoke on the occasion. KCCI President Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, Vice President Srinivas Kamath, Treasurer M Ahmed Bava, Secretaries M Shekhara Pujari and G G Mohandas Prabhu were among the present in the inaugural function.
The technical sessions that followed were characterised by talks on various export related topics by eminent personalities in the field.
Around 35 delegates participated.
