Mangalore Ladies Circle 82, which is a part of Ladies Circle International, will organise an art exhibition called ‘Art for a cause-Have a heart for Art’ at Empire Mall, M G Road from October 26 to 28, informed Ladies Circle Chairperson Philomena Castelino.
Speaking at a press meet here on Wednesday, she said the exhibition will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao. Consultant Neurologist Dr N Shankar and Mohtisham Complex Pvt Ltd Managing Director S M Arshad will be the guests of honour. The art exhibition will display different kinds of paintings of various talented artistes from across the Dakshina Kannada district. The proceeds of the sale will go towards encouraging artistes from this region and to the charities of Mangalore Ladies Circle 82. Artists who will participate include Anil Devadiga, Ganesh Somayaji, Santhosh Andrade, Dinesh Holla, D Kadan, Ravi M S, Ramakrishna, Taranath, Prashanth, Jaywanth Shettigar, Vasanth Rao, Vishwas, Jeevan Salian and Purushottam Adve.
A workshop for artistes on the topic ‘The Art of Framing’ by Prabha S Kamath and ‘Genre of Art Appeal’ by William Pais will also be organised. Handicrafts of other charitable institutions such as Prajna Counselling Centre, Cheshire Home and Jeevandaan will also be on display along with the sculptures and antiques.
The Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 has been involved in projects to ensure better education and health care facilities for empowerment of women. It has also been concerned with promoting environmental awareness among children through their E-CORP (Environmental Conservation and Protection Programme), she added. Vice-Chairperson Dr Shanthi and Dr Nilofer and projects in-charge Latha were present at the press meet.
