“A second severe agitation against Nagarjuna Thermal Power project will be initiated very soon,” informed Horata Samithi Co-ordinator Vijaya Kumar Hegde.
Speaking at a press meet, Mr Hegde explained about the problems that are expected to result from the project which include depletion of underground water-level and landslides. He also alleged that the Padubidre police were acting as “Nagarjuna agents.”
The Samiti plans to distribute about 25 lakh pamphlets to create awareness on the ill-effects of the project. A number of associations have come forward for the same, he added. Awareness meetings will be organised at Nandikur, Yellur, Palimar, Mudarangadi, Hejamadi and Yermal among other places to expose Nagarjuna, he added.
Mr Hegde also informed that a delegation will meet the Governor to apprise him about the demerits of the project. The date for the same will be finalised soon, he said. Mr B V Poojari, Mr Dinesh Ermala, Mr Keshava Koteshwara and Mr Shariff Hoode were present at the meet.
