It has raised many an eyebrows over the timing of the acceptance of resignation ahead of the hearing of a case related to Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor before the Supreme Court on October 29.
However, the Governor’s office, in response to Mr Holla’s resignation letter, wrote back to him stating that Governor had decided to continue him in the office till the advisors are appointed and the Executive Committee (comprising the Governor, the advisors and the State Chief Secretary) takes a decision in this regard. The Executive Committee, headed by the Governor, performs the duties of a State Cabinet during President’s rule.
Sources say that Mr Holla, who was appointed by the JD(S)-BJP government, had submitted his resignation on October 10th soon after the President’s rule was imposed in the State. Mr Holla had been instrumental in giving legal advice on the BMIC project and the State government had even filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court seeking its permission to cancel the contract given to the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises to execute the project.
However, the AG’s office received a letter from the Governor’s office on Thursday stating that Mr Holla’s resignation had been accepted.
Mr Holla was not available for comment despite efforts to contact him.
