Comed-K is likely to continue with the last year’s fee structure and seat matrix for the PG Entrance Test 2008. The consortium will soon consult legal experts regarding the continuation of the last year’s formula which was 33 : 67, and 33 per cent were government seats. This was one of the outcomes of the meeting conducted by Comed-K with its member institutions on Thursday.
Comed-K announced the PG entrance test date after it received no response from the government.
The test is scheduled on January 27. About 1,600 medical, paramedical and 600 dental seats are being offered this year.
Another issue that was discussed in the meeting was UGET 2008. The association wants the government to allow the private colleges to fill up all their seats. Comed-K Executive Secretary Dr S Kumar said that the government has increased the salary of the teachers.
“If we want to hike the salary of the teachers, then it would cost an additional amount of Rs 3 crore per college.
This means, we will have to hike the fees for professional courses , which we are not willing to do. Therefore, we want the government to allow us to fill all the seats,” he added.
