Today young talent is making name in all fields. National level swimmer Rehan Poncha and Ashwa formula SAE racing team from R V College of Engineering comprising of Arun Raj S Ashok Kumar, Shravan Mehra and Karthik P Kishore were adjudged joint winners of Young Achiever 2007 award at a felicitation function held at the MLR Convention Centre on Friday.
Instituted by Rotary Bangalore Midtown and Brigade Group, the award aims to appreciate and acknowledge the achievement of bright youngsters who have made a mark in the society.
Speaking on the occasion M R Jaishankar, Chief Managing Director of Brigade Group expressed satisfaction at the success of the state-wide search for young achievers. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MP, stressed on the importance of passion in order to succeed in one’s respective field. In Rehan Poncha’s absence, (he is currently participating in the Asian Indoor Games being held at Macau), his father Jehangir Poncha received the award.
Team Ashwa inspired the audience with their speech about the importance of hardwork as the key to success in any field.
A citation and special mention award each of Rs 15,000 were given to Veena Basavarajaiah, Umesh B N and H G Chaitra for being outstanding achievers in the respective fields of dance, environmental awareness and music.
