Incessant rain that battered Bangarpet for the last few days has brought cheers to the farmers of Bangarpet where monsoon had a poor show.
The farmers had readied the land to sow and were only waiting for the grace of monsoon which but failed to make it in time. They were worried over the loan taken for sowing seeds as there was no hope of harvesting had the drought-situation prevailed. The rain at this time of crisis has come as blessing indeed.
The rain that started to pour on the day of Ayudha pooja continued till this day filling the small tanks to brim. The weather is conducive for the sprouts to grow and also for raagi, paddy, corn and other pulses. The farmers are also planting the tomato happily.
In October last year Bangarpet taluk had received 181.8mm rain while this year it is 77 mm till the end of the month. Wether the rain will continue to keep the hopes green is yet to be seen.
