Teenage deliveries, rapes, abandoned or missing children, child labour, beggary and unwanted adoptions figure among the issues that the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) attaches great importance to.
Children’s court
The CWC has a children’s court which functions inside the campus of government institutions near Kidwai on Hosur Road.
A release from the chairperson of CWC (committee II) Santosh Vas appeals to people who come across such incidents to refer them to Makkala Sahaya Vani located inside the campus of Police Commissioner’s Office on the toll free line 1098 or directly to the CWC.
For boys
Committee I looks after the issues referred above for boys on Mondays and Thursdays Committee II functions on Tuesday and Fridays for girls.
CWCs were established in all the districts in Karnataka and the committee members were appointed for a 3-year term.
The committees have been functioning for the last five years.
