I love this movie. There is no logic in it, doesn’t tax your grey cells and yet leaves you smiling at the end. Imtiaz Ali believes in making cute moves for overgrown kids that make you want to go ‘awww’.
It is a simple tale where two souls meet in a railway station and miss their train. While Geet (Kareena) is motor mouth who likes to run away from wherever she is, Aditya (Shahid) is a dukhi aatma who is on the verge of a suicide but finds himself forced to babysit this piece of terror. The poor dear travels the whole countryside to help her get home at his expense (don’t bother why) only to find her family baying for his blood when she decides to sprint again. Somewhere in all this mayhem, he falls in love with her. You also have the usual twists and turns before the happy ending.
The narrative is not a strong point but these kind of movies are like babies. Even the flaws make them adorable. How can you stop giggling at lines like ‘Main apni favourite hoon’?
Kareena is quite a delight while Shahid looks like a mouth-watering piece of pastry. And now the million dollar question about their on-screen chemistry. Well it isn’t scorching but they do come across as Barbie and Ken playing house. Light hearted entertainment guaranteed.
