In all, the crime branch questioned nine stars in connection with the show. According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria, who had unravelled the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts conspiracy, the stars were questioned to find out whether they had performed in the show under pressure from the gangster.
‘Proper contract’
Mr Maria told reporters here on Friday that the stars were called to the crime branch office to verify whether they had gone to the UAE “under a proper contract, out of love and affection for the producer or under pressure from various elements.”
The other five stars were Salman’s brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, Urmila Matondkar, Esha Deol and Malaika Arora.
The dance show was officially produced by actor Sunil Shetty's Popkorn Entertainment, which organises such shows and celebrity exhibition cricket matches. Maria said Sunil Shetty would be questioned soon.
All the nine stars sought time from the crime branch to furnish their MoUs and contracts regarding the show.
Cricketers
The sleuths would also question the cricketers who had played in the cricket matches.
Maria said the videotapes of the matches had been sought and would be examined. Maria, however, did not mention the name of any cricketer.
