Delivering the annual Sri Meda Kasturiranga Setty Memorial Oration on ‘50 years of Entrepreneurship movement in India’, he said that the 1970’s was a decade of experimentation as far as honing entrepreneurial skills in the country was concerned, and that it has today helped the country evolve its own successful entrepreneurial policy. “A number of States conducted their own experiments during the 70’s and evolved a number entrepreneurial initiatives which has helped the nation progress. NGOs, Industrial associations and even workers also did their bid for the development of theb entrepreneurship movement,” he said.
He added that country today has its own individual entrepreneurship movement and that it is not limited to manufacturing activity alone - it exists in agriculture, services and other sectors. “Sixty years ago when we attained our independence there was acute poverty in the country, the GDP was stagnant, agriculture practice remained traditional and there was lot of ignorance . Today it is not the same thanks to the growth of the entrepreneurship movement,” he added.
