Gang clubs man to death

In an instance of road rage, a 28-year-old man was clubbed to death by a six-member gang near Ramamurthy Nagar overbridge on Friday night.

 Vijaykumar died on the way to Manipal hospital while his relative Kannan escaped with minor injuries.

Police said, Vijaykumar and Kannan, working in a granite company, were returning home after a party. At Kanakanagar, Vijay's two-wheeler touched a parked SUV, leading to heated verbal exchange with the two occupants of the four wheeler.

Kannan, who was coming from behind, intervened and tried to pacify them. Following a call from the SUV occupants, four people came in a car and thrashed Vijay and Kannan.  In the fight, Vijay suffered major head injuries and died on the way to hospital. The gang abandoned the SUV and escaped in the car.  Later, police found that the SUV was stolen from Frazer town police limits.

Scooterist killed
A 25-year-old rider was fatally knocked down by a truck near New Horizon College, Bellandur in Airport Traffic police station limits on Saturday morning. Rajiv was riding a scooter when when a speeding Tamil Nadu registration lorry (TN-27-V-6289) rammed into his two-wheeler.
16 arrested
The HAL police have arrested 16 persons in connection with a group clash on Annasandra Main Road in Islampur on late Thursday night. Situation in and around Annasandra was peaceful on Saturday.

Four of the eight, Chandrappa Reddy, Sandeep, Shashidhar and Jeetan, who had sustained severe injuries were hospitalised in Manipal Hospital and are recovering fast, the police said. “The police have reduced the number of platoons monitoring the situation. However, there will be intense patrolling for another couple of days, before we decide to withdraw additional forces completely,” HAL Police Inspector BK Umesh said.

Murder accused held
CCB sleuths have arrested Raju alias Captain Raju (27), wanted in five murder cases and several other crimes.
Four of his associates Prakash alias Hotel Prakash (27), Manjunath alias Yemme Manju (26), Parmesh alias STD Parmesh (27) and Suresh Kumar alias Suri (28) have also been arrested, said sources. The police said, Raju was involved in real estate deals and also worked as recovery agent for money lenders. Apart from several criminal cases, murder cases were registered at Vijayanagar, Chickpet, Subramanyapura, Kamakshipalya and Nelamangala police stations.

Police caught the gang when they were planning to kill another rowdy sheeter Jagi alias Break Jagi.

Gold chain snatched
Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a gold chain from a woman valued at around Rs 25,000 in HSR Layout on Friday late evening.

According to the complainant Geetha Gaonkar, two youth  came from behind and snatched the chain when she was walking in front of her house.
