Four independents join Congress
DH News Service, Chikkabalapur:
Congress is making an all out effort to reign the power at CMC. In the first phase of this effort four successful independent CMC candidates were officially inducted into the party under the leadership of KPCC(I) president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday.

All the four candidates are the rebel candidates of Congress who contested independently.

Independent candidates Nirmala Prabhu (elected unanimously to CMC), B A Lokesh Kumar, Bhaskar and Venkatalakshmamma have been inducted in to the party. There are rumours of other independent candidates joining the party in next phase.

In order to strengthen the Congress MLA S M Muniappa, KPCC member G H Nagaraj, Anjiappa, district Block president Bisse Gowda, taluk Block president K V Naveen Kiran and leader D R Nanjundappa lead the rebel candidates to Mallikarjun Kharge.

Due the induction of the independent candidates to Congress both Congress and JD(S) have 13 candidates each in the CMC. Cong leaders have expressed strong faith in BJP’s  Nandhini Byregowda and independent candidate Raghu that they would support Congress.

It is believed that in this changed political scenario Congress might seize the power at CMC. Even JD(S) leaders are making an all out effort to seize the power talks are going with BSP and other independent candidates in this direction.   The announcement of reservation  for the posts of CMC president and vice president will lead to the hectic activity in Congress and JD(S) camps. The crucial factor for this activity will be the caste which will be the beneficiary of the reservation.
