The Karnataka State Women’s Commission has allowed a complaint filed by J N Jayashree, secretary of Mahithi Hakku Jagruthi Vedike, Bangalore and wife of IAS officer M N Vijayakumar against Chief Secretary P B Mahishi and recommended the State government to take necessary remedial action against all concerned.
Ms Jayashree had moved the Commission complaining that Chief Secretary’s remarks in a letter were offensive. Chairperson of KSWC Pramila Nesargi in her order held the complaint maintainable and opined that Mrs Jayashree’s launching of a website could not be presumed to be at the behest of her husband, as she was a free citizen of India entitled to choose her own avocation, trade, calling or profession. And that such a presumption was indignant.
The Commission recommended the State government to take remedial action against all concerned.
