Sources said he was in constant touch with Mr Deve Gowda and Mr Yediyurappa after BJP national leader Rajnath Singh announced that the JD (S) was not for transferring power to the BJP.
Once JD (S) senior leader M P Prakash stepped up his efforts to form the government with the help of the Congress, the Sangh leader too made his last minute efforts to bring the leaders of both the parties to a negotiation table.
The last three days’ efforts began showing results on Saturday with Mr Kumaraswamy openly declaring that his party will extend support to the BJP.
The Sangh leader, who sought anonymity, told Deccan Herald, “When I called Mr Gowda to get his opinion on Friday night, he just said - you boys, do what you want but don’t ask me anything. So, we got clear indication that he would not be posing any more problems. Many JD (S) leaders including Zameer Ahmed, heluvarayaswamy and H C Balakrishna, the close associates of Kumaraswamy, were feeling sorry for Yediyurappa. Now all is well. Marriage- divorce- establishing conjugal rights - all done.”
In addition, an editor of a Kannada eveninger too played a crucial role in making the leaders of two parties shake hands again, it is said.
