No short cut to impress!
Its a natural tendency for junior officers to try their best to impress their seniors. They will go to any extent to make sure that their seniors are happy with their work.

Sample what Chief Health Officer (CHO) of BBMP, Dr Gayathri L T did to prove this right! Recently BBMP Administrator Dilip Rau inspected Sanjay Nagar and surrounding areas. He was accompanied by other BBMP officials including Ms Gayathri.

As all the officials got into the BBMP vehicle which ferried them to different locations for inspection, this official hurriedly made a phone call from her cell. “Yella kasa hogidya athava hogta idya?” (Has all the garbage gone or is it still going?) she was heard asking.  After getting the reply from other side, Ms Gayathri was in a laser quick speed saying: “Don’t you know you are supposed to get all the garbage on main roads cleared first before clearing garbage from internal roads”. The CHO would have assumed that Mr Rau’s vehicle would pass by only main roads, but much to her dismay he visited internal roads too, which, of course, were not all that clean. A hard lesson learnt.

Dubey’s skill to hunt for talent
The occasion was to release the English version of Girish Karnad's 'Yayati' translated by Playwright and Director Satyadev Dubey.

While welcoming the guests, Girish Karnad was showering praises on Satyadev Dubey on how the latter was instrumental in introducing many famous actors.

One such actor Dubey dragged into filmdom was Amol Palekar. Palekar who was a painter by profession till then, went on to become a good actor and Karnad in his speech thanked Dubey for his contribution to Indian painting field! Amol Palekar never painted once he became an actor.

Who speaks of nation’s future?
The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, a notable name among the nation’s top economists, was in the City on Saturday to address a conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Economic Growth and Planning.

A key figure in formulating the economic policies of the country, Dr Ahluwalia sent the audience into laughter when he added, “In this country, it is not just economists who are influential. Astrologers are as much, if not less influential than us. Thankfully, I have been invited to address the gathering in the valedictory session at the IISc. I need not speak like an economist or an astrologer in the midst of scientists” he said.

Is the economist in Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia making way for an astrologer? It’s anybody’s guess!
