Researchers at the University of Manchester in the UK have developed a high-tech battery-powered textile yarn that glows in the dark, reports ANI from Washington.
Clothes made of this material could come in handy for cyclists, joggers and pedestrians on dark winter days, scientists at the William Lee Innovation Centre in the University’s School of Materials, who developed the product, say.
Clothes made of the electroluminescent yarn allow the wearer to be permanently visible, thereby improving his/her personal safety.
Spice Girls plan to strip on stage
Spice Girls singer Melanie Chisholm hinted that the group might strip on stage to make things more interesting. They kick off their world tour on December 2 in Canada, reports IANS from London.
The group is reportedly practising sexy dance routines and have agreed to sing naked but with stage props covering their modesty, contactmusic.com reports. Melanie said: “We do actually go naked in the show, completely.”
Turkey’s drug to stop bleeding
Turkish scientists have created a drug stopping any bleeding in a few minutes, which means it could be used in treating haemophilia, the Sabah newspaper reported. Haemophilia is a genetic disorder that impairs the body’s ability to control blood clotting or coagulation, reports RIA Novosti from Ankara.
“The preparation we created has overturned our knowledge of the mechanism that stops haemorrhage. It stops any bleeding in a few minutes,” Ibrahim Haznedaroglu of Hacettepe University, where the medicine was created and tested, told the newspaper.
Watson breaks up with Drucker
Harry Potter star Emma Watson has broken up with her boyfriend Tom Drucker after seeing his pictures with other teenagers, reports IANS from London.
Watson, who has have been dating Drucker for a while, is distraught after the split as he was her first love, according to contactmusic.com.
A friend speaking to a newspaper said: “She is very upset. He was her first love.” But a spokesperson for Watson said the split was amicable.
