It's IT.in jamboree time folks
Subrahmanyan Viswanath
ITs back and IT beckons. The annual IT jamboorie. This time billing itself with the tagline as Gateway to Asia...

The annual four-day IT conclave of country’s Knowledge Capital and namma Bengalooru — BangaloreIT.in has stepped into its tenth avataar. The marquee, signature fair-cum-conference, calling card for who’s who of digital domain space to strut their stuff, to learn and leverage from those who have done it, to participate and benefit from all things IT.

The event is all set to kick-off Monday and be on till the State’s Formation Day — Kannada Rajyosthava, on November 1. Event organisers claim that this year’s BangaloreIT.in promises to be a smooth affair. Whether big and better the coming four days will surely tell.

Several firsts
This year BangaloreIT.in seems to see several firsts that should provide participants some food for thought. Firstly, with no government in State, the show surely will be sans all sound and statements.

Secondly, this time around it’s an all industry affair. As State IT Secretary M N Vidyashankar observes “ BangaloreIT.in 2007 is by the industry, of the industry and for the industry.” With officials acting just as facilitators, the content and structure has been worked out by advisory committee which comprises stalwarts of the IT industry.

Thirdly, slyvan surroundings and majestic backdrop of Bangalore Palace, which played host to the mega event, the last nine years, no longer plays host as it has given way to the much more distant, but sprawling and specifically structured exhibition centre — Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Tumkur Road.
Whether this augurs well for participants and public who have to travel the distance to keep their tryst with all things IT is moot. However, according to organisers, the move to shift the venue was taken because BIEC provided wholesomeness in terms of exhibition halls and conference halls being located at one ubiquitous spot. BIEC now provides one-stop spot for all networking and business without hazzles of having to rush from hotel to hotel, and speed back to fair ground to be in attendance at stalls, organisers said.

As for traffic snarls, they said, police department have assured them that trucks will not be allowed to ply on roads during morning hours and traffic police are being beefed up to ensure participants a smooth passage and snarl-free ride to IT.in. As for Rain God playing spoilsport, they said we are keeping our fingers crossed praying God Almighty ensures weather remains conducive for the events to happen.

Entertainment
Besides pure-play IT related conferences, networkings, what have you, BangaloreIT.in also promises some evenings of entertainment so that after a hectic day at office, participants can let their hair down to enjoy the nights of soothing soirees.

On first day, ten-member Family Affairs Band will take the centrestage to soothen senses of attendees with their ensemble performance. Day two sees Prakash Sontakke, Hindustani slide guitar, violin, vocals virtuoso, taking audiences on a musical journey.

Of course, for those who believe in bit of jig and jive business, there’s the one and only, dashing didi sporting flaming sun red bindi the versatile Indian pop singer — Usha Uthup at concert. Ofcourse, it goes without saying, gala dinners are the order of nights.  Surely then, IT’s best bet to be at BIEC and be part of part of IT, the next four days when all roads lead to Tumkur Road.

Happy hunting! at the sumptuous bill of fare BangaloreIT.in has spread these four days.
