There is no better way can there be to celebrate Diwali than with Indian traditional crafts. And for this Diwali, Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIE) opens up a wide array of crafts and textiles, all creations by some of the most creative artistes of the country.
The CCIE is holding an exhibition of Shekhawati furniture, oriental and carved furniture from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. What’s more? There are also bedspreads and table linens from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. And in keeping with the spirit of the festival, a wide range of diyas will also be on display.
The exhibition will be on till November 7 and it’s open everyday from 10 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 7 pm, inclusive of Sundays at the CCIE premises on MG Road.
A separate exhibition hall in the basement has been refurbished in order to provide more space and convenience to customers. In addition, there's also ample parking space for customers, states a release.
Apart from the exhibition, the main CCIE showroom has a collection of art and craft. These include a whole range of items, like Rajasthani wooden dolls and furniture, Dokra figurines from West Bengal and Chattisgarh, traditional and contemporary paintings, a whole range of carpets including jewelled carpets from Agra, contemporary ceramic crockery, silver jewellery, gems and stones and many more items.
As for The Central Cottage Industries Emporium, popularly known as the Cottage, is a repository of Indian handicrafts and handlooms, art and craft. It aims at preserving and nurturing the rich heritage of a culture dating back to over 5000 years, in which skilled artisans have created breathtakingly beautiful masterpieces. Handicrafts and handlooms are sourced from all over the country from dedicated artisans famed nationally and internationally. Its repertoire includes craft, jewellery, artefacts, linen, furniture, clothes, carpets, paintings, lamps and fashion accessories.
