Speaking at the venue of the state’s executive committee meeting here on Sunday, Mr Advani egged on his party workers with the poser “If the election is around are you ready?” emphasising that the BJP was the only party which could offer stability. The former party chief said the present state of political uncertainty was due to the UPA government’s inability to clear the nuclear deal.
“Unlike the Left we are not against the US. We want cordial relations with that country but if the US wants to impose severe conditions like, for example, a ban on Pokhran III, if we want to have it, we cannot allow that to happen,” Mr Advani, who was approached by US Ambassador David C Mulford on October 25, said .
Mr Advani also said the prime minister would go for this kind of deal because he had opposed the May 1998 Pokhran blasts as member of the Rajya Sabha, on the ground that it would provoke US into imposing sanctions.
The Centre would be “playing” with the security concerns if it sacrificed its right to conduct nuclear experiments, he added.
