Teachers’ test
As many as 49, 259 candidates appeared for the primary teachers’ recruitment test conducted on Sunday.
The examination was held in 220 centres across the state to fill 8,496 vacant posts.
Commissioner of Public Instruction Kumar G Naik said that the highest number of absentees were reported in Bagalkot with 38.5 per cent while 17 per cent remained absent in Bangalore North, which was reported lowest.
He also added that no cases of malpractice were reported.
The three hour exam commenced at 10.30 am. The paper was set on Mutiple Choice Question (MCQs) pattern.
The questions were based on Kannada, English, Social Science, Science and Mathematics and General Knowledge.
The paper was for a total of 150 marks.
Florex India
The State Government will host a huge pavilion at the international floral exhibition-cum-trade show — ‘Florex India 2007,’ to be held at Pune from November 2 to 4 this year.
The Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Sudhakar Rao, speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Saturday, said that the pavilion can be used free of cost by Karnataka’s floriculturists to showcase their products and get exposure to the international market.
The event will include the florex summit, an international conference on floriculture and the florex business meet, an international buyer seller meet.
