NIIT inks pact with Adobe
NIIT, on Saturday, entered into a global alliance with Adobe Systems to create talent pool for design, web, mobile and interactive media. Through this strategic partnership, NIIT will offer training on Adobe’s software tools and technologies used in business, entertainment and personal communication, across its network of 32 countries, reports DHNS from New Delhi. Adobe and NIIT will also jointly set up showcase centres in metros. 

Videocon’s Diwali dhamaka
Keeping Diwali in mind, Videocon, on Monday, announced that it is investing Rs 40 crore on advertising and promotions with a full array of exciting activities for the consumer. Videocon’s “Diwali Dhamaka” offer is a combination of best price, attractive assured gifts added with extended warranty and bumper prize. The entire promotion is centred on offering assured gifts like vacuum cleaner, electronic safe and bumper prize like laptops and camcorders through contest2win.

‘Toyota U Trust’ launched in India
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), on Monday, launched ‘Toyota U Trust’ in Bangalore to facilitate sales, purchase and exchange of Toyota and non-Toyota cars. ‘Toyota U Trust’ aims to offer potential customers an opportunity to exchange their old cars of any brand for a new Toyota or used Toyota cars. Customers will also be provided with a wide range of value added services including finance options.

BoM net up 48% at Rs 90 crore
Bank of Maharashtra, on Monday, announced that it has posted 48 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 90.45 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 compared to Rs 61.29  crore in the corresponding period last year. Total income of the bank for the reported quarter increased by 34 per cent at Rs 913 cr.

Sobha’s Q2 net up 51 per cent
Sobha Developers on Monday in Bangalore reported a 51 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 56.20 crore for the second quarter over the same period last year. The Bangalore-based company said the operating margins for the quarter were 27 per cent as against 20 per cent in the same period last year.

Jet Airways is back in black
Jet Airways announced on Monday a profit after tax of Rs 28.4 crore for the second quarter of this fiscal compared to a loss of Rs 55.1 crore for the same period last year, reports DHNS from New Delhi. The company said fuel prices which are ruling at $90 per barrel may impact on the operating costs this quarter. Jet attributed the last quarter performance to lower fuel costs. It said domestic operations accounted for 69 per cent of operating revenue at Rs 1252.6 crore while its international operations accounted for 31 per cent at Rs 566 cr.

Titan’s net profit up by 44
Titan Industries on Monday registered an income of Rs 725.52 crore for the second quarter, as compared to Rs 539 crore during the corresponding period last year, up by 34.6 per cent. The Company’s net profit increased at a higher rate of 43.9 per cent in the second quarter to Rs 46.30 crore from Rs 32.18 crore last year. Titan’s watch sales grew by 22 per cent to Rs 274.80 crore for the quarter under review. Jewellery income also grew by 46 per cent at Rs 432.40 cr during the second quarter.

Sun unveils Eco Innovation
Sun Microsystems in collaboration with APC-MGE, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Hitachi Data Systems and Wipro Infotech, on Monday, announced in Bangalore a new eco consortium to address the growing issues of limited power, space, and energy. The consortium is designed to enable customers to tackle the datacentre eco issues of cost savings and energy efficiency.
