The Second Sessions Court in Kolar has failed to convict the accused in the murder of three dalits in Nagalapura village and has let the culprits scot free. Even the tragic Kambalapalli incident was met with a similar fate. As a result we condemn the verdict of the Sessions Court, said State Convenor N Venkatesh at a press conference.
The successive governments have failed in protecting the lives and property of the dalits. However, the dalit community is highly let down as it is unable to get justice even at the lower courts. The State government’s inability to handle the situation is the cause of the derailment in justice, he added.
Murder
A murder case was booked against Vasantha Reddy and 54 other members of the Nagalapura village with regard to the murder of Yashodamma and her two sons Chandra Shekar and Dinesh. However, the acquittal of the accused ha-s hurt the dalits of the village.
Thus, the case needs to be referred to the High Court and a special prosecutor needs to be appointed. If the justice is not provided then a state wide protest will be held, he warned.
