Zilla Panchayat President Chikkanarasimhaiah has said that officials should make sure that there are no irregularities in the functioning of the hostels for the scheduled castes.

Speaking after inaugurating a training session for wardens and lecturers organised by the social welfare department,  he said that there had been many complaints regarding the hostels of late, and the matter should be rectified. “Everyday we hear that there are no cooks and servants at these hostels,” he said. “If the students are not being provided with the right facilities, then we should take action,” he added.Speaking at the programme, Zilla Panchayat member Chandur Venkatesh urged the wardens and lecturers should strive to achieve 100 per cent results.

ZP assistant secretary Badanur said that the staff of hostels where students come from the backward sections should work sincerely. Deputy Director Bellasetty of the public information department said that there should be a focus on value-based education. The hostel staff should bring out the students’ talent, he added. Zilla social welfare department President Jayaram said that they should function with transparency.
