Police have arrested three sharp shooters in connection with the threatening and demanding hafta from a builder in Mangalore.

According to police, the arrested have been identified as Syed Yusuf Ali (21) and Wasim Sheikh, residents of Lucknow and Musthaq Ahmed (26), resident of Pandeshwar.

The police also seized a loaded revolver from the arrested.

Acting on a tip off, Bunder police headed by Vinay A Gaonkar, raided a lodge in city on Sunday night and arrested the trio.

On interrogation, they revealed that on the instruction of an underworld don, they have come to the City to collect ‘Hafta’ from a builder.

Bunder Sub-Inspector C Kiran, Narayan Byndoor, constables Umesh Hosolike, Chethan, Damodar, Shashikant, Taranath and Jayaram were instrumental in nabbing the accused.

Injured
A woman was seriously injured when a bus ran over her at Addabailu in Subrahmanya.

According to police, the injured has been identified as Yashodha. A case has been registered.

Gas cylinders seized
Tahsildar and revenue department officials raided two hotels, three canteens and seized eight illegally stored gas cylinders. A case has been registered.
