Save National Highway 17 Committee today urged not to politicise the 24 hours bundh to be organised by the Committee on October 30 in protest against the negligence of the National Highway authorities and elected representatives towards the worst unmotarable condition of the highway.
Speaking at a press conference, Save National Highway 17 Committee Convenor B Govind Raj Hegde said that this fight is against all political parties and authorities who are involved in this irresponsible act and it is a mass protest against the whole system, he added
Mr Hegde informed that no vehicles other than milk vans, ambulance and press vehicles would be allowed to ply on the highway. The road between Shiroor and Hejamadi will be blocked from 7 am to 7 pm. Public have been asked to co-operate. Games and music programmes will be held at the blocked junctions, he added
Mr Hegde also said that Seers of Pejawar, Shiroor and Kaniyoor Matts have agreed to take part in the road block.
Convenor Balakedarara Vedike Udupi Damodar Aithal, Member Samajavadi Party Udupi B Sudhakar Shetty, President Taxi men’s Association Udupi district Keshav Rao were present at the meet.
