9 arrested for stone pelting
Balehonnur, DHNS:

Police have arrested 9 persons for pelting stone at a police station on Sunday night. The people resorted to stone pelting alleging that the irresponsibility of a physician was the reason for the death of a five-year old girl.

Sharada, the daughter of Saroja-Lingappa Gowda couple of Kicchabbi has consumed rat poison mistaking toothpaste. She had been admitted to a private nursing home at Balehonnur by 4 pm. Though the child was healthy, she fell ill again, and the doctor advised to take her to another hospital. But on the way, she died.

The parents had filed petition in Balehonnur police station on Sunday itself that the irresponsibility of the doctor was reason behind the death. Hundreds of people staged protest in front of the nursing home.

At one point, the verbal battle between the police and the public reached the extent of physical strife; police resorted to mild lathi charge. The protesters damaged the nursing home and a two-wheeler belonging to the physician.

When police brought the doctor to the station after arresting him, people started pelting stones at the police station, thus damaging it partially. And again, police had to resort to lathi charge.

Bandihole Jagadish, Kankere Suresh, Namanahalli, Yogish, Umesh, Chandrashekhar, Ratnakar, Angadi Umesh, Aduvalli Chandrashekhar and Somashekhar have been arrested and produced before the court.
