Interestingly, the advisors were appointed on Saturday, a few hours after the two parties staked claim to form the government. The same evening one of the advisors — P K Tarakan — took charge at Karnataka Bhavan, here.
Meanwhile, political circles say the stand of the Congress-led UPA government was articulated by the party on Monday.
For first time, the party took an official stand on the issue demanding the dissolution of the House. Hitherto, the party had been welcoming the decision to keep the Assembly in suspended animation.
The party demand came after it was clear that its State unit was in no position to drum up support to form an alternative government.
In Delhi, Monday, the first working day after the latest developments in Karnataka passed off without the UPA taking any decision on it. There was also no indication of the Union Cabinet meeting on Tuesday which is necessary if the Presidential proclamation is to be revoked.
If the imbroglio is to continue, sources said the government may have to act fast if the situation goes out of hand — the UPA will get an opportunity to dissolve the Karnataka House on November 15.
For, Parliament has been summoned to meet on that day. Since the House has been kept in suspended animation, the assent of Parliament is required to dissolve it.
